Dr Saraswathy | Portraits
December 2019-2020
Location: Ground floor, main building near exit to Oak House (This exhibition has now finished)
About the Artist:
Dr. Saraswathy, is an ophthalmologist at Milton Keynes University Hospital. This is the first time her artworks have been exhibited in the UK.
The
artist is inspired almost entirely by nature's creations, known and unknown faces
are captured in monochromes and earthy tones in the effort to display contrasts
in light and dark or more exactly life and death. Her techniques in which
pencil and charcoal strokes are deliberately left evident also connect back
this natural foundation.
The artist’s practices are deeply rooted in meditation and an ethos deriving from the Sanskrit phrase Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam which translates as The World is One Family. She sees her portraits as a form of expression to be explored within this context.
