‘Paintings celebrating the awe and wonder of the English landscape.’
Slide Show Image 1: Swallow | Image 2: Herron, Mixed Media on Canvas, 81 cm x 81 cm
Created in a spirit of quiet
introspection, the paint is poured and layered on to the canvas to build up a
series of translucent glazes. This results in a harmonious sense of place where
time is stilled and a search for light is shared with the viewer.
Plume, Cyanotype on watercolour paper, 35cm x 104cm
These artworks were part of an exhibition of recent works for our 2016 temporary exhibitions programme, which also included cyanotype prints. The cyanotype prints begin in the allotments and edgelands of the city where things are often left alone or forgotten. Simple specimens are literally caught in the sunlight where their innate character develops into an object of individual beauty.
