Glynn Williams

Glynn Williams began his career as an abstract sculptor but turned to carving figures from a variety of English stones in the late 1970s.

This sculpture is carved from Ancaster stone (a type of limestone) and shows an adult figure with a child. The circle they form suggests the circle of life, the bonds of love that hold us together or even show some kind of tension.

A well respected sculptor Williams is a former professor of sculpture at the Royal College of Art, and has artworks in art collections such as the Tate Gallery, the V&A and in Parliament Square. His sculptures remain very clearly human in form although somewhat abstracted.

The Milton Kenyes University Hospital art collection contains two sculptures by the artist. The other, entitled Mother and Child can be viewed in the Restaurant Courtyard.
