A supportive Conversation with Dr Esther Aslan: Mental Health Arts Participation

26 January 2024

Wed 6 March 2024, 10am – 11.30am
Milton Keynes Arts Centre, Great Linford, Parklands MK14 5DZ

Since the 2020 pandemic, poor mental health has been on the rise. It is now suggested that one in four people in the UK will experience a mental health disorder each year. With pressure upon the health services to meet demand, more and more people are turning to the arts as a way to reduce stress, lower anxiety levels, improve mood and create a space for social connection. The arts have a valuable role to play in supporting mental health, but are artists equipped to deal with the specific challenges involved?

Milton Keynes Arts Centre in partnership with Arts for Health Milton Keynes invite professional participatory artists working in Milton Keynes to discuss and reflect on their experiences and to meet Milton Keynes-based educational and child psychologist, Dr. Esther Aslan. Esther Aslan will be providing practical advice to working with adults and children experiencing poor mental health and inviting artists to join a series of 'Supportive Conversations' across the year designed to improve resilience within the sector.

︎This session is free but booking is essential.

︎ Please RSVP by Wednesday 28 February 2024 to fiona@miltonkeynesartscentre.org.
