MKDAD 2022

14 July 2022

Once again we were delighted to support MK Disability Awareness Day, which was held outside this summer at the MK Rose, Campbell Park on 14 July – thankfully in lovely sunshine!

We had an inspiring, creative and fun-filled morning, meeting and celebrating our community together. With support from our curator Emma Barford, we commissioned artist Katie Fields to provide an activity using wild inks to create mindfulness paintings.

Members of the Camphill MK and MK Snap Communities took part and thoroughly enjoyed this relaxing activity.

︎Watch the video below showing Camphill residents enjoying painting with wild inks:

The day continued with a speech from the Mayor of MK, Cllr Amanda Marlow; Debbie Brock, The High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire and Tim Davies from Camphill MK. After that there was a fascinating tour around the MK Rose stopping at significant pillars along the way including MK Dons Day, World Joke Day, Unsung Hero Day, Parks Trust, Idea Day, Olympics, World Animal Day, Concrete Cow Day, Poetry Day and of course Disability Awareness Day! Then there was a beautiful kinetica flag waving performance by the lucky flag holders who attended the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations at The Mall.

The art activity continued throughout the morning and as the event came to a close people were invited to stay for a picnic in Campbell Park.

Thank you to all who came along to support the activities.
