On Sunday 14th June, Arts for Health MK attended our
first Family Fun Day at Milton Keynes Museum and what a day we had! The sun was shining and it was certainly a fabulous day out for the family with a range of
activities, entertainment and food on offer – also the museum was open for all
to come in and browse!
On our stall we were making ‘Inventicle tenticles’ which
were an extension of your imagination. For the first wave of 100 visiting
children, bamboo sticks were provided and these were inventively turned into many
different forms including several wands, swords, fishing poles, telescopes, ski
poles and even a guitar! Materials used included netting strips, sequin elastic,
pom poms, bells, beads, ribbon, coloured tape and colourful plastics. For the
second wave we got even more inventive and created free-flowing tenticles using found
sticks, foam, netting and ribbon.
Professional local artist, Sophia Ghory led the session alongside our team of volunteers – all on hand to help with the flow of children and adults who were
ready to get creative!
Thank you to everyone who attended the event and who made
this day such a success!
With huge thanks to our four brilliant volunteers: Inaaya, Sue, Radostina and Naomi who supported the artist
and assisted with the art activity on the day.
